Opening Reception July 12

An opening reception will be held July 12 from 2:00 TO 5:00 p.m. for a wide range of new work in several of the galleries, plus the popular Our Stories and Memories, part 2.

Main Gallery II is hosting Roundtable VIII.  Work is featured that ranges from video to sculpture and explores issues of representation, identity and personal responsibility and continues to explore stories relevant to the South Bay/Harbor community and/or shared history.  The artists include Kaleeka Bond, Ben Caldwell, Cherie Benner Davis, Corita Kent, Delbar Shahbaz, Louis M. Schmidt and Michael Stearns.

In the Project Space, The Bunker gallery has been staged to resemble a military dwelling and features the selected work of current Angels Gate Cultural Center’s Studio Artists: Sarah Abramson, Phoebe Barnum, Elizabeth Casuga, Frank Minuto and Jesse Small.

The Main Gallery I continues Service and Other Stories: A Living History Project, a year-long exhibit that engages US  military from all 20th and 21st century conflicts.  The project, led by Farah Karapetian, involved Veterans Joe Deeble, Mike Felch, John Warhank, Justin Wilson and ROTC cadets.

And, last but not least, the Community Room gallery features work of artists who take community classes at Angels Gate Culture Center. Artists include Philip R. Brunner, Loren Clapp, Tian Chen, Sue Cutler, Elissa DiCarlo, Michael Hermann, Arlene Van Hossier and Mike Porter.
