Artist Studio and Gallery at The Loft

Carol Hungerford is a Southern California artist specializing in portrait and beach figurative work.

She has clients throughout Southern California, Washington State, Idaho, Virginia, and the Philippines. While she spends a lot of her time concentrating on commissioned portraits she also paints regularly from life both in and out of doors to continue expanding as a painter. She began her studies at Otis in Los Angeles but quickly found Associates in Art in Sherman Oaks Ca. to dig in and learn. She was masters student there and is especially grateful for the drawing instruction from Mark Westermoe. She also studied painting with Christina and Dan Cooper and Bill Perkins. She then moved on and became a regular student of Joseph Mendez who she considers her greatest mentor. Carol’s love of beach paintings ignited when she discovered Joanquin Sorrolla and feels especially fortunate to have studied with Dan McCaw. Other influences for her art come from Sergei Bongard, John Singer Sargent, and Nicolai Feshin.
